A rainwater catchment system connects a suitable collection surface to pretreatment, storage and controlled overflow. These PP modules create the underground tank section and can be arranged to match the required capacity, available footprint and intended function.

How the Catchment System Works
Rainfall moves from the roof or paved catchment through gutters, drains and first-stage filtration. Pretreatment removes leaves, grit and other debris before the flow enters the modular tank. The stored water can be retained for approved non-potable use, released at a controlled rate, or infiltrated into suitable ground according to the project design.
Storage, Attenuation or Infiltration
A sealed geomembrane configuration supports storage and reuse. A controlled outlet can turn the tank into an attenuation system, while a permeable geotextile configuration may support infiltration where the soil and local rules allow it. The hydraulic design must account for rainfall intensity, catchment area, runoff coefficient, target discharge and overflow route.

Installation Considerations
Excavation, base preparation, module assembly, wrapping, pipework and backfill must follow the engineer’s design. Include accessible pretreatment, inspection points, ventilation and a safe overflow route. Burial depth, surface traffic and soil conditions determine the surrounding civil and structural requirements.
