This modular rainwater collector creates a concealed underground tank for capturing, storing and reusing stormwater. Its lightweight components can be assembled into tanks of different footprints, helping designers use space beneath landscaped areas, roads and other suitable surfaces. Compared with a large one-piece tank, modular construction can simplify transport, site access and installation planning.
Underground Rainwater Collection and Reuse
Rainwater harvesting begins by collecting runoff from roofs or paved catchments. The water then passes through project-specific pre-treatment before entering the underground tank. Stored water may support suitable non-potable uses such as landscape irrigation, washdown or toilet flushing, subject to local regulations and the complete treatment design.
The tank location keeps the ground surface available for landscaping, parking or other planned use. It can also form part of a stormwater attenuation strategy when the outlet is designed to release water at a controlled rate. Storage, attenuation and infiltration are different design duties, so engineers should confirm the required function before selecting the tank size and surrounding geotextile or membrane layers.
Typical Applications
- Residential and commercial rainwater reuse
- Parks, gardens and landscaped public areas
- Road and car-park runoff management
- Construction sites and urban redevelopment
- Stormwater storage or attenuation below usable land

Installation Planning
A complete installation normally includes excavation, a prepared base, assembled modules, geotextile or waterproof membrane, inlet and outlet connections, inspection access, ventilation where required, selected backfill and the designed surface build-up. The designer should check groundwater, soil conditions, burial depth, traffic loading, buoyancy and maintenance access. Pre-treatment is important because sediment entering the tank can reduce effective storage volume and increase maintenance.

Information Needed for a Proposal
Please send the catchment area, design rainfall, required storage or discharge volume, installation depth, surface loading, soil and groundwater information, tank location and destination. Our project team can then recommend a suitable modular configuration. For current high-strength options, also review our underground water storage cells.
